Description
Charles and Effie Bean with a sulphur crested white cockatoo in the grounds of the Tuggeranong Homestead. The homestead and outbuildings can be seen in the background with mountain ranges to the right. The cockatoo (Cacatua sulphurea) belonged to family of Mr Arthur Bazley, Bean's wartime batman and postwar assistant, who was also resident at the homestead. One of a series of photographs taken by C E W Bean or members of his family or staff during his time spent at the Tuggeranong Homestead while writing the 'Official History of Australia at War 1914-1918'. The photographs comprise of family, friends, staff and the local region. Photographs from the private collection of C E W Bean held at AWM 38 3DRL 6673.
