Chicom Type 54 Pistol : North Vietnamese Forces
Description
Chicom Type 54 semi automatic pistol. Top slide stamped with Chinese characters, the serial number, 66 and 1964. The black plastic grips have a five pointed star in the centre.
History / Summary
This pistol is a Chinese copy of the Tokarev Type TTM 1933. It was taken from a dead North Vietnamese officer by Lieutenant Colonel Harry Smith MC, after the Battle of Long Tan while serving as the Company Commander of Delta Company, 6 Royal Australian Regiment.
