Description
Kiriwina, Trobriand Islands, Papua. October 1943. Named "Dawn" with Pegasus motif, nose art, on the port side engine cowlings of a No. 79 Squadron RAAF Spitfire Mk Vc aircraft A58-143, UP-Y, (RAF No. EE850), on Kiriwina airfield. Note also that a slatted mat has been laid over the port wing to assist in servicing the aircraft.
