The cross on the original grave of 408963 Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt) Ian Hope Callister, pilot of No. 79 (Spitfire) Squadron RAAF, who was killed in operations over Kiriwina Island on 5 November 1943. Flt Sgt Callister was originally buried in the Armed Forces Cemetery No. 1; his final resting place was Bomana War Cemetery (Plot A3, Row D, Grave 7), Port Moresby, Papua.
