Description

The damaged port side of HMAS Sydney's forward funnel after it was struck by a shell fired from the Italian cruiser Bartolomeo Colleoni, during a naval battle off Cape Spada, Crete. The Italian ship was immobilised by accurate fire from the Sydney's six inch guns and then sunk by torpedo's launched from the escorting British destroyers.
