Informal outdoor portrait of two members of the Women’s Reserve Emergency Naval Service (WRENS), a volunteer group of women who worked with the Royal Australian Navy. Identified on the left is Elizabeth Mary Clare Lynch from Waverley, NSW who later joined the Women’s Royal Australian Naval Service (WRANS) with service number WR/280 and advanced to the rank of Petty Officer Stewardess. On the right is Marie Camilla Lloyd (later Mrs Forbes) from Normanhurst, NSW who also joined the WRANS. She served as a Supply Assistant with the service number WR/270.
