Studio portrait of Sergeant (Sgt) William McBurnie, 11th Brigade, Australian Field Artillery. A storeman of Brisbane, Qld, he enlisted on 26 July 1915 and sailed aboard HMAT Mashobra with the 11th Australian Light Horse Regiment on 26 July 1915. He died of wounds, aged 42, on 22 October 1917 and is buried at the Menin Road South Military Cemetery, Ypres, Belgium.
