Studio portrait of 778 Private (Pte) Andrew Thomas Hood, 17th Battalion. Pte Hood enlisted in Sydney, NSW on 24 March 1915 and died of accidental injuries on 30 April 1918 at Rouelles Camp, France. Born in Napier, New Zealand, he was a 25 year old salesman staying with his brother William Charles Hood at Bexley prior to his enlistment. His brother William, a carpenter, enlisted in 1917, serving as a driver with the number 36623 in the Field Artillery Brigade then the 1st Divisional Ammunition Column.
