Description

Group portrait of members of the "Kelly Gang". The original "gang", led by Lieutenant (Lt) Colin A. Wade, was formed from ex militia cavalry members of the 6th Division Cavalry Regiment, and later increased to fourty men. They undertook a number of raids and ambushes on the enemy hidden in the mountain villages over a period of four weeks, after which they returned to their armoured vehicles. Identified are: Win Smart (back row, right), Captain Millard (third row, sitting second from left), Captain Burt (next to Millard) and Captain Colin A. Wade (next to Burt). (Donor C. Wade)
