Japanese delegates enter the Municipal building to sign their surrender. Admiral, lord Louis Mountbatten accepted the surrender of the Japanese forces in the Southeast Asia command area. In the absence of count Terauchi, the Japanese commander in chief of the southern regions, General Itagaki, the senior general in the Japanese armies, signed the surrender document on his behalf.
