Description

Two types of Russian (Soviet) hand grenades. The device (left) is known as a RG42 offensive grenade and is made from a sheet metal body containing 99 grams of TNT. The device (right) is an F1 defensive grenade with a serrated cast iron body. Offensive grenades rely on blast and usually contain no projectiles such as ball bearings or steel rod. Defensive grenades rely on a smaller amount of charge and a thick case that shatters upon detonation..
