Description

A captured Viet Cong (VC) guerilla and Provincial Reconnaissance Unit (PRU) scouts standing in front of the hide where three Viet Cong guerillas lived, about 1500 metres into the jungle from a hamlet in the Phu Cat area. Seconds after this photograph was taken, the VC guerilla hiding in the bunker started shooting and throwing grenades, refusing to surrender. The PRU, led by Warrant Officer Class 1 E. B. (Ossie) Ostara, Australian Army Training Team (AATTV), conducted this cordon and search operation after receiving intelligence that VC guerillas were operating from the hamlet, demanding food from the villagers.
