Description

Jimmy Sinh, an interpreter for the Provincial Reconnaissance Unit (PRU) standing with one of two Viet Cong (VC) prisoners captured during a cordon and search operation of a hamlet in the Phu Cat area. This prisoner told Jimmy Sinh that he wanted to quit the VC and go to the government's "Open Arms" program, after (PRU) scouts had thrown a grenade into a bunker to "frag" out the third VC hiding inside, refusing to surrender. The PRU, led by Warrant Officer Class 1 E. B. Ostara, Australian Army Training Team (AATTV), conducted this cordon and search operation after receiving intelligence that VC guerillas were operating from a hamlet in the Phu Cat area and demanding food from the villagers.
