Korea. May 1953. An aerial photograph showing Kigon-ni, known as the "mound", a roundish land feature at the end of a long hill in the right foreground, it is marked with a faint X. It was the first position occupied by the the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (2RAR) on 5th May 1953. It was a highly disputed area, involving patrol clashes with the Chinese forces almost on a nightly basis. (Donor 2RAR Association)
