Description
An aerial view of the abandoned Fire Support Base (FSB) Lion in the Australian area of operations (AO) at Thua Tich, 22 km north east of Nui Dat. Set in a relatively cleared open area, the defensive position of this base had clear lines of fire. Individual artillery pieces were sited to cover interlocking sectors to counter enemy attacks from any direction. Extensive earthworks with dug in pits were created for this purpose.
