Description

RAAF cantonment officers' mess. Under supervision, a work party of female Vietnamese labourers erect a sand-bagged wall around the accommodation building to protect it from enemy mortar and rocket attacks. Construction and maintenance of these defences largely fell to RAAF Airfield Defence Guards (ADGs) who provided physical security at air force installations. While the military complex was subjected to such sporadic attacks throughout the war, there were no fatalities among RAAF members in any specific strikes on the airfield.
