Flak Nr.254 binoculars : Luftwaffe
Description
Binoculars 7x50 (7x magnification, 50mm objectives). Marked 'Flak Nr.254', 'D.F. 7x50' and with a Nazi eagle & swastika with M'. Its black paint is worn off around edges.
History / Summary
The binoculars were captured at Cape Bon when the German Africa Corps capitulated. Donor obtained item from an Australian airman named Reg Doyle c.1972, together with a Messerschmitt Bf 109 control column, German helmet, and other items. Doyle was temporarily attached to a New Zealand unit delivering blood plasma in a Dragon Rapide aircraft. He acquired the binoculars at Cape Bon when the Germans capitulated.
