Description
Unidentified members of the 14th Light Horse Regiment pose on the remains of a tank which took part in the action in support of infantry troops during the second Battle of Gaza. The tank is a Mark 1 male (armed with six pounder cannons). The men of No 2 Company, Imperial Camel corps followed this tank into action during the Second Gaza engagement against the Turks. This tank was probably damaged when the fuel and ammunition inside the tank caught fire after repeated enemy shelling, causing an explosion which blew the tank apart. The tank has been blown into three distinct sections; two sides and the central section comprising the engine. The tracking is sitting on the ground and the sponsons on the left are sticking out from the tank.
