Informal portrait of three Turkish standard bearers, with the regimental standard presented to the defenders of Gaza against the first British attack. Each of the three bearers is wearing the ribbon of the Turkish War Medal in their second button-hole. This medal was awarded for for acts of bravery or merit in action. This is one of a series of photographs, probably taken by a Turkish official photographer, collected by 2120 Private (Pte) Murtie Cecil Carlian, 14th Light Horse.
