Description

Gloster Meteor Mk 8 aircraft of 77 Squadron RAAF prepare to take off. The pilots were on their first operational strike over Korea having been re-equipped and trained to fly the new jets. These sixteen pilots were the first members of the RAAF to fly jet aircraft on active service in an Australian Squadron. The new Meteor aircraft replaced the previous complement of P-51D Mustang aircraft which had also operated in Korea soon after the outbreak of the war.
