Members of No 1 Squadron, RAAF, at a dinner- dance held at the house on Ridout Road of Mrs L W Geddes, one of a group of ten local women who had clubbed together to provide hospitality to Australian servicemen, once a month. During the evening the airmen joined in a 'sing song' around Mrs Geddes' white grand piano, where this portrait was taken. Identified personnel are: 300153 Corporal (Cpl) (Later Flying Officer) Clarence Henry Blood (far right); 205622 Warrant Officer (WO) John William Kinder (2nd from right), who later died as a prisoner of war (POW) at Ranau (see P03129.002); 41850 Cpl Alec William Ivan Ross (3rd from right); 207782 Leading Aircraftman (LAC) (Later Cpl) Raymond James Bonnett (5th from right, with his hand to his head), who later died as a POW; George Collins (the tallest man in the group 2nd from the left).
