Informal portrait of Staff Nurse (SN) Clarence Kathleen Cockburn (left), Australian Army Nursing Service, and 87460 Acting Sergeant Harold Cunningham Cockburn. SN Cockburn enlisted 12 June 1915 and returned to Australia on 3 March 1916 due to heart valve disease. Returned for a period of recuperation she sailed for Cumbala War Hospital in Bombay, but was hospitalised two weeks after her arrival and returned to Australia two and a half months later she was invalided back to Australia. Her brother Harold was demobilised on 18 November 1918 before he could embark.
