Description
Studio portrait of John Trotman Bristow. A designer at W H Smith and Son in London prior to emigrating to Australia, he found work as gardener before enlisting in the AIF, serving as 267 Lance Corporal Bristow with 2nd Battalion he embarked from Sydney on 18 October 1914 on board HMAT Suffolk. Bristow died of wounds on 30 April 1915 five days after landing at Gallipoli and is memorialised at Lone Pine Memorial Cemetery, he was the son of R A Bristow of Clapton, England. His father included a moving tribute to his son with his completed Roll of Honour circular.
