Description

A foundation plaque set at the entrance to the Memorial High School at Kadina, SA. At the conclusion of the First World War, the citizens of Kadina and district decided that, rather than construct the customary form of monument, they would build a living memorial commemorating their local servicemen and women of the time. This resulted in the construction of a much needed school which opened on 30 January 1924. For some time the school incorporated a meeting room on one end of the main building (not in view) where returned service members could regularly meet. This stone tablet mounted at the front of the school identifies the facility as (the) Memorial High School although it is known as Kadina Memorial High School.
