Description
Studio portrait of SX4054 Frank Ewald Petras, 2/7th Field Regiment. He enlisted in the AIF on 30 May 1940, after he was unable to join the RAF as ground crew. He trained as an artificer, fixing broken and jammed artillery guns, and became known as "Doc" due to the black bag of tools that he carried with him. He served in the Middle East and Tarakan.
