In the trench, left to right: first three men are unidentified; 5709 Private (Pte) Charles Lumb (wounded in action on 16 October 1917 and returned to Australia for discharge on 6 July 1918); unidentified (behind Lumb); Pte J. Williams; Pte S. Morrison; Pte J. O'Brien; unidentified; 2131 Pte Charles Buchan, stretcher bearer, A Company (mentioned in Army Routine Orders in July 1917 for gallant services, killed in action near Villers-Bretonneux, France, on 8 August 1918, aged 45 years). All are members of the 60th Battalion.
