Description
Palmerston, NT. 20 September 1999. Members of 3rd Battalion (Parachute), The Royal Australian Regiment removing their sunglasses as they are formed up in the Robertson Barracks compound where they were addressed by the Prime Minister, John Howard, prior to their departure to join the International Force for East Timor (Interfet). Identified are: Jackson (second row, left, smiling at the camera), Lee (second from right, looking down) and Scott (right). Many of the soldiers are carrying a Camelbak water bladder over their shoulder, with a tube allowing the soldier to drink.
