Memo, Maliana District, East Timor. 17 November 1999. A crowd of Timorese, mostly women and children, gathered around Captain Smith (obscured), a female medic as she runs a medical clinic from the back of an Australian Army Land Rover in the village of Memo. She is accompanied by Lieutenant Dan Liddell (left) and Sergeant Reynolds (right) of the 3rd Combat Engineer Regiment (3CER), part of the International Force for East Timor (Interfet).
