Memo, Maliana District, East Timor. 17 November 1999. A young Timorese man watching Rick Amor, Australian Official Artist, sketching Timorese women and children as they attend a medical clinic run by Captain Smith, a female medic of the International Force for East Timor (Interfet). Rick Amor is in East Timor to gather information about Australia's involvement in Interfet, and will later produce works of art for the Australian War Memorial's collection. In the background are Sapper Johnson (wearing a Camelbak water bladder, sitting on a Land Rover) and Sergeant Holzknecht, Transport Sergeant 3rd Combat Engineer Regiment.
