Balibo, East Timor. 18 November 1999. A view through the doorway of a building where five were killed on 16 October 1975. The five journalists, Greg Shackleton and Tony Stewart, both Australians, Malcolm Rennie and Brian Peters from Britain and New Zealander Gary Cunningham, became known as the Balibo Five and were killed just prior to Indonesia's invasion of East Timor on 17 Decemebr 1975. Bloodstains and bullet holes on the rear wall indicate there have been more recent atrocities committed in this building.
