Benghazi, Libya. September 1942. An Italian Army 47/32 anti-tank gun and crew of the Divisione Corrazzata Littorio. Left to right: Private (Pte) Macalli, Pte Moroni, Pte Testa, Pte Zama, the newly appointed Corporal (Cpl) Mario F. Mori, the names of the two soldiers on the right are not known. Cpl Mori was transferred from North Africa to the 33rd Regiment, 4th Battalion, Division Livorno in Sicily where he was captured by the United States Army on 11 July 1943 near Gela. He was held in a British POW camp in Tunis, Lybia, until 16 August 1943 when he was transferred to the 7086th Engineering Battalion of the US Army. He was released from captivity in August 1945. Mario F. Mori emigrated to Australia.
