Description
Port quarter view of the N Class Destroyer HMAS Napier, one of the five ships of this class which served in the Royal Australian Navy during the Second World War. Napier was engaged on patrol and convoy escort duties in the North and South Atlantic, the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean at various times in her service. She also operated with the British Pacific Fleet during the assaults on Okinawa. After the surrender of Japan, Napier sailed for Sydney where she was paid off in October 1945, reverted to the Royal Navy and, with her sister-ships of the N Class, sailed to Britain.
