Description

The Headquarters Staff of the 38th Battalion just beyond Bray, when the Battalion was enjoying a momentary rest, during the operations of the 3rd Australian Division on the north bank of the Somme. The hole in the bank behind the group was the Battalion Headquarters. In foreground, left to right: Lieutenant (Lt) H. F. Poole; Lt W. P. D. Murie; Major A. J. A. Maudsley (killed in action 31 August 1918); Lt G. A. Dutton (killed in action 29 August 1918); Lt T. H. Dunn, Signals Officer. Captain J. McCusker, Regimental Medical Officer; Lt P. J.
