Three members of of the 3rd Battalion wait for a billy to boil above Mackenzie's Steps in a gully on the Gallipoli Peninsula. Identified left to right: Second Lieutenant Eric Cecil Howard Ritchie, later killed in action near Passchendaele on 20 September 1917; Private Bailey, squatting to check the billy; Private Timothy Nolan. The stove is made of inverted shell cases.
