Collection relating to the First World War service of 7244 Stoker Petty Officer Henry James Elly Kinder, HMAS AE2, Australia, Ottoman Turkey, 1914-15.

Wallet 1 of 1 - Consists of one typescript memoir. Kinder writes of his pre-1914 submariner experience, trials of the AE2 (in English waters), the AE2's journey to Australia, subsequent First World War service patrolling Australian waters and later duty at the Dardanelles. Includes descriptions of conditions on board, a graphic account of the loss of the AE2 in the Sea of Marmara on 30 April 1915 and life as a prisoner of war of the Turks.
