Portrait of Major Geoffry Hurry, 38th Battalion. On 3 January 1918, Major Hurry received the DSO and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel on 12 May 1918, taking command of the unit on the same day. He returned to Australia on 15 November 1919.
