Grave of 2nd Lieutenant (2Lt) Reginald Henry Dabb, 8th Battalion, from Camperdown, VIC in Haus Spital Cemetery, Munster, Germany. 2Lt Dabb enlisted as a 19 year old Private on 18 August 1914 and embarked for overseas on 19 October 1914 aboard HMAT Benalla. He was promoted Corporal on 18 August 1914, Sergeant on 28 April 1915 Company Sergeant Major on 23 March 1916 and 2Lt on 28 April 1916. He served at Gallipoli before going on to serve in France. 2Lt Dabb was wounded and captured during a raid on German trenches at Pozieres, France on 18 August 1916. He had his leg amputated at Reserve Lazarett, Munster hospital but died of his wounds on 26 September 1916. (Plaque on headstone gives date of death as 26 October 1916.) One of a series of over 400 photographs sent by Australian POWs in German camps to Miss M. E. Chomley, Secretary, Prisoners Department, Australian-British Red Cross Society, London.
