Portrait of Able Seaman (AB) Torpedoman William John Richardson and Muriel McGlynn in St Aidens Church, Annandale, on their wedding day. Richardson is in Seaman's No 1 Blue square rig dress with long white silk streamers, known as wedding streamers.Permission was given to RAN sailors and their best man to wear the streamers if they were married in uniform. AB Richardson enlisted in the RAN in October 1942 and was posted to HMAS Australia, after being in the army for a short stint, waiting to be recruited into the Navy.
