Studio portrait of 411096 Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt) Raymond De Champfleur Darken, RAAF, of Springwoo, NSW, (originally of Parkes, NSW). He was a school teacher prior to enlisting in Sydney, NSW, on 31 March 1941 and completed his initial training in Canada with the Empire Air Training Scheme before being posted to the United Kingdom, serving with 207 Squadron, RAF. He was killed in operations over Essen, Germany, on 21 January 1943, aged 26.
