Informal portrait of NX25410 Private (Pte) Thomas (Tom) 'Bogan Brown' Brown, 2/17th Battalion, of Parkes, NSW. He enlisted in Paddington, NSW, on 7 June 1940, he trained at Dubbo, NSW and Greta, NSW before leaving for the Middle East later that year. He served in North Africa, El Alamein and Tobruk before returning to Australia in February 1943 and retraining in jungle warfare and going to New Guinea in July 1943. He was killed in action in New Guinea on 9 October 1943, aged 25.
