Informal portrait of NX72050 Corporal (Cpl) Richard Edward (Bob) Heaton, 2/20th Battalion, of Parkes, NSW. A shoe salesman prior to enlisting at Paddington, NSW on 26 March 1941, he was stationed at Tamworth, NSW, before going to Malaya.He was reported missing in action after the fall of Singapore on 15 February 1942, but at the end of the war, his family was told that he had been killed in action at Johore Passage, Malaya, on 10 February 1942, aged 39.
