Studio portrait of NX26860 Private (Pte) Francis Samuel (Sam) Watts, 2/30th Battalion. He enlisted in Paddington, NSW, on 21 June 1940 and was taken prisoner of war (POW) at the fall of Singapore. He died of illness on 22 November 1943 and is buried in a mass grave with 240 other POWs in Kanchanaburi, Thailand.
