Description
A notebook formerly belonging to prisoner of war (POW) NX13559 Private Percy James Cusack No 8363 of 2/1 Battalion at Stalag XXA, Thorn (Podgorz), Poland, during the Second World War. Brief entries written by him in July 1941 describe his capture at Crete and his escape from a Salonika POW camp with British and Cypriot prisoners through a sewer pipe. A Greek family cared for him after his escape. The rest of the notebook contains lists of names and addresses of friends and family in Australia, England, Scotland and New Zealand.
