Scrutinising the gas regulator on his 7.62 mm L1A1 self loading rifle (SLR),1/3933, Private B James F (Jim) Kenna, of Brisbane, Qld, a signaller with 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR), before he commences a five day operational patrol against Communist terrorists in Northern Malaya. The patrol covers more than 4000 yards of dense jungle along a 3000 foot high feature. The grill of a GMC, CCKW-353 two and a half ton truck can be seen in the background.
