Men from 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), strengthening the defences with barbed wire at their forward base in Sarawak. Identified from left to right: 210062 Private (Pte) Peter Edward White, of Sydney, NSW; Corporal Tom Jacobs, of Taree, NSW; 15894 Pte Greg K Bell, of Beachmere, Qld; Pte 16299 Phil J Dempster, of Maryborough, Qld. Pte White previously served in Korea with 3RAR between 1951 and 1954 and also in Malaya during the late 1950s. He later served in South Vietnam with 7th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (7RAR) between 1967 and 1968 and again with the Australian Army Training Team Vietnam (AATTV) between 1969 and 1971. Pte Bell previously served in Malaya and Singapore during the Malayan Emergency.
