Informal portrait of 54415 Private (Pte) Patrick T (Pat) Brookes, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), of Perth, WA, making his way through dense jungle foliage as he patrols along the Sarawak-Kalimantan border area. He is armed with a 7.62mm L4A4 Bren light machine gun (LMG) and has a 36M hand grenade attached to his webbing strap. Pte Brookes also served in Malaya and Singapore during the Indonesian Confrontation period of the early 1960s.
