3411421 Sapper William R (Bill) Vincent , of Albury, NSW (left, holding an Owen machine carbine) and 13640 Corporal (Cpl) A K (Ossie) Stack of Grovely, Qld (right), 24 Construction Squadron, Royal Australian Engineers (RAE) take shelter under the tipper of their mud caked and spattered International (tipping teaspoon) dump truck as they look skyward toward an impending tropical storm. The sappers are working to complete a 70 mile stretch of road through thick rain forest and jungle in the state of Sabah. The men's boots are also caked in thick mud due to the unseasonal tropical rains which made the construction process difficult and arduous. Cpl Stack previously served as a lance corporal with 2 Troop RAE during the Malayan Emergency in the 1950's.
