Informal portrait 3/4812 Lieutenant Rex Rowe, of Redcliffs, Vic, 2 Field Troop, Royal Australian Engineers (RAE), who is responsible for pegging out the route of the new road that the engineers are constructing through 9000 yards of rough terrain in Northern Malaya. He is soaked with perspiration as he carries a load of nine foot pegs forward through thick lallang grass and matted tapioca.
