German propaganda photograph captured by the RAF.
RAF Caption: "The Americans in their raids on Italy dropped these imitation fountain pens and propelling pencils, which would explode on being picked up. On turning either of these instruments the charge would explode and seriously injure the person, mostly children, picking up the pencil or pen".
The photograph shows a close view of both the outside and the internal mechanisms of the boobytrap devices.
