Australian Signaller, 2/9313 Corporal (Cpl) C B 'Doc' Judd, of Coogee, NSW, 28th Brigade, Signal Squadron, talking on a field telephone set at the edge of a small airstrip in Northern Malaya. Cpl Judd recently kept the communication channels open, passing messages by morse code and voice radio during a fierce gun battle between security forces and Communist terrorists, operating along the Thailand-Malayan border area. Note the Auster AOP 9 aircraft in the background.
